At OLTD, our philosophy on social and emotional development is one that starts with modeling appropriate behavior as adults. We teach techniques that help children learn how to regulate their emotions and behaviors. The “Conscious Discipline” method (Dr. Becky Bailey) and Beyond Consequences are a couple of resources used to teach self-regulation.  All childcare staff receive yearly training and regular check-ins to ensure we are following this methodology. We use connection and guidance tools that promote an idea of patience and self-control, tools from the “Conscious Discipline” model, and Beyond Consequences.
